Job Description
Head Start is a comprehensive education program designed to prepare children for academic success, and promote age-appropriate social skills. The program works in partnership with parents, extended family, and members of the community.
Under the supervision of the Classroom Teacher, Substitute Teachers are responsible for:
- Assisting in day to day activities which include supporting the Curriculum Specialists, Classroom and Assistant Teachers
- Providing a stimulating environment for the growth, well-being and development of the children
- Providing the group with a positive routine as well as activities and experiences which encourage brainstorming and problem-solving skills
- Helping the children acquire and use language as a means of communicating their thoughts, feelings and understanding
Substitute teachers can be assigned to different classrooms and various responsibilities inside and outside of classrooms at the discretion of the supervisor.
